FED:Rates decision proves we're better: PM

Prime Minister JULIA GILLARD has used the Reserve Bank's decision to leave the cash
rate unchanged to dump on Opposition Leader TONY ABBOTT's financial skills .. and push
Labor's credentials.

As was widely expected .. the RBA left the cash rate at 4.5 per cent for a third straight
month today.

Ms GILLARD says Labor made the better economic choices when the global financial crisis
hit .. but if they'd done what Mr ABBOTT advocated they'd be in a recession now.

But she says she won't make deceptive and misleading claims about the government's
ability to keep interest rates down because the Reserve Bank is independent.
