Fed: Post-war welfare days are over - Andrews

Getting people back to work will be the main theme when federal Employment Minister
KEVIN ANDREWS meets with cabinet today.

Mr ANDREWS says the great post-World War II social welfare program is just about over
and the new reality of welfare to work is being discussed by governments around the world.

He says that was a clear message from dozens of ministers and senior officials at an
OECD meeting last week.

Mr ANDREWS says there's an entirely different demographic operating around the world
to the post-war era and Australia's not immune.
